#LADS 2019

60 year 9 boys from John Spence, Whitley Bay, Churchill & Longbenton attended the #LADS event earlier this week.  LADS, Learning And Developing through Sport was in support of International Mens Day 2019 and tackling inactivity in young men & creating positive mental wellbeing.

The event was organised & ran by the Sports Development team at Tyne Met College in consulation with the PE & School Sport team. It was targetted at less active boys within North Tyneside schools who may not be all that confident participating in traditional extra-curricular clubs and may benefit from participating different activities. The event focused on promoting positive mental health, increasing physical activity levels and included activities such as fencing, boxing, CrossFit and a classroom based activity around mental health.

PE Teacher at John Sppence said “Our pupils had an inspiring, motivating and fun day, expericening engaging activities. Thank you for the invite!”

We hope this sparked some interest for the #LADS in a new activity and encouraged them to participate in physical activity whether it’s in or outside of school.
