Staying Safe Online

Social Media Guidance 

  • Young people must be over 13 years of age to have an account on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook
  • Anyone under the age of 13 should not have a social media account on any of the platforms that the PE & School Sport Team use.
  • Young people must ensure they have consent from their parent or guardian, who should in turn use their own account(s) to share content.

As a general rule, never share any sensitive or personal information on social media platforms (e.g. full name, address or date of birth etc.)

North Tyneside PE & School Sport Team Statement

The team will, in line with official guidance;

  • not recommend or use Apps that have an age range older than the audience that we are communicating with
  • not contact individual school aged children through social media accounts. Any contact with pupils or praise for achievements would be made to the school or teacher involved
  • stay up to date with & be aware of safeguarding and online safety concerns within PE, Sport & Physical Activity
