Code of Conduct

The enjoyment and safety of our competitors, spectators and staff at North Tyneside PE & School Sport team events is of paramount importance. Please help us ensure the event is a success by following the Code of Conduct outlined below.

ATHLETES & PARTICIPANTS

  • Play/perform to the best of my ability
  • Act fairly and honestly at all times
  • Treat my team mates and opposition with respect and value the help that others give you
  • Praise and encourage others
  • Play by the rules and encourage others to apply the values in all that we do
  • Remember to say well done to the opposition and thank my teachers, coaches, officials and supporters
  • I will inform an adult if I am concerned, or if I feel uncomfortable
  • Respect the facility and the equipment being used

TEACHERS, TEAM MANAGERS & COACHES

  • Ensure that safety, welfare and enjoyment of young people is my priority
  • Be a positive role model , following the code of conduct and ensure that my players and supporters do the same
  • Encourage participants to value their performance
  • Always respect the officials and event organisers, communicating with them appropriately
  • Make sure I praise all athletes and use appropriate language at all times

OFFICIALS & YOUNG LEADERS

  • Place the safety and welfare of yourself and participants above all else
  • Act as a role model to participants and other young people
  • Be consistent and objective when making decisions
  • Promote respect amongst participants
  • Be polite, acting responsibly and appropriately at all times

PARENTS/ GUARDIANS & SPECTATORS

  • Remember the main aim is for the participants to enjoy the experience and have fun!
  • Encourage fair play by supporting all players with suitable and appropriate communication ( verbal & non verbal)
  • Show respect for all young people and teams
  • Be a positive role model for my child and set a good example
  • Support my child’s involvement and help them enjoy their sport in a positive and encouraging way, allowing them to learn the key ethos of competition
  • Recognise the value and importance of teachers, volunteer coaches and officials, and show your appreciation
