Talented Athlete Academy 2019/2020 launch
The launch of this year’s Talented Athlete Academy took place at the Langdale Centre on Monday evening for students at schools across North Tyneside. The initative, now it’s third year has been developed by Tyne Met College, in partenership with the North Tyneside PE & School Sport Team & The Talented Athletes Scholarship Scheme (TASS).
The academy is aimed at young people performing at either a county, regional or national level It is ideal for those wanting to maximise their opportunites within sport as well as increasing their knowledge & experience to support them in reaching their potential. It educates and supports young talented sports people to do just that through high quality, individualised athlete development. It aims to inspire and enrich sports education by providing a holistic approach through links with professional clubs and organisations, fosucing on areas such as nutrition, sports psychology, strength and conditioning and career parthways.
Students are noimated for the programme by their school & following on from launch night are invited to a series of workshops throughout the year, hosted by Tyne Met College. 15 students from John Spence,Kings Priory, Marden High, Valley Gardens & Whitley Bay attended the launch and are now part of the programme and academy for 2019/2020.
