Table Tennis & Basketball Central Venue Leagues
It was the turn of the U16 boys to take to the tables at Churchill last week for the first session of their central venue league. There were 8 teams in attendance & each of them played in 4 matches. Within a team there are 4 players, ranked 1-4 and they each play against their respective rank from another school team. They play the best of 3 sets within a game & it’s the first player to reach 11 points that takes that set.
Looking the strongest after the first session, having won all 4 of their matches were the teams from St Thomas More & Whitley Bay High.
Running alongisde this was the U14 boys Basketball league which included 6 teams from Churchill, Burnside, Norham, John Spence, Longbenton & St Thomas More. Mr Flynn from St Thomas More & 2 year 10 students from Churchill stepped up to ensure the league could take place and & refereed each of the matches. We would like to pass on our thanks to them & the staff who enabled the session to run so smoothly.
