Leagues leading the way
On Thursday evening over 70 boys from Burnside, Churchill, John Spence, Kings Priory,Longbenton, St. Thomas More, Valley Gardens , Wellfield & Whitley Bay participated in the U13 Table Tennis & the U16 Basketball Central Venue Leauge.
These events have been running alongside one another throughout the autumn term for the last couple of academic years and the feedback from running them in that particular way has been very positive. The teams attend 3 sessions at the same venue every fortnight after school, for an hour and quarter.
The boys gain a great deal from coming back together every couple of weeks to play competitively, developing their technical as well as their tactical skills and gaining confidence and game play experience. They leave the session eager to go away and practice before the next time they come and play, where they hope to better their performance.
Both leagues will feed into Tyne and Wear School Games finals with the top teams from each age group progressing.
It will be the turn of the U16s to take part in the Table Tennis & U14s in the Basketball next week and we are again inundated with entries, with lots more boys wanting to take part.
We would like to thank all NT staff for their support in the running of these leagues, particularly Mr Dunn from Churchill College.
